Is this a proper invoice?

Hello,

A plumber has replaced a boiler, we've paid and he promised to send an invoice. Now, four days later he emailed a plain text document (not a nice PDF with letterhead) with the content below. My question is whether this is acceptable as a proper invoice. To me it looks as if anyone could have made this up, and I wonder whether this is really acceptable.

For example, I don't have a proof of purchase of the boiler itself, as the plumber purchased it and this is included in what we've paid him. We have of course registered the boiler with the manufacturer for warranty. But is there any scenario when I would need the installation invoice and is the below plain text document ok?

Here is what it looks like (some private details made generic):

Yes, fine. It contains all the relevant details and proves you've paid him for the work.

Is he a gas safe registered engineer? (I think this is the case, happy to be corrected) He'll notify your LA and they will send you a certificate and then that should match the company name, so it won't just look like anyone made it up.

He's a plumber, not a businessman, clearly. It's fine. A letterhead is only a bit of printing.

OK, great. Thanks for your replies.

Yes, he is a Gas Safe Registered (or so) person. You've said that "He'll notify your LA". May I ask what 'LA' is?

    Many thanks.

If I were you, given your comment about the purchase and no identifying information, ask him to include the purchase information on the invoice and then print and sign a hard copy to you.

If you don't want a big fiasco just say that you're taking home emergency cover out and you need to be able to prove the date of purchase for the appliances.

The invoice is proof of purchase, and the date you purchased it will be the date on the invoice for all practical purposes.

If he is VAT registered then by law he has to display his VAT reg number, like wise if he is Gas safe registered then that should also be on any accompanying paperwork.
