My latest MBNA balance transfer 0% offer has reduced to 12 months, from 18 months.
Disappointed as intend to do balance transfer in few months time.
Any ideas why this is, why their offer has reduced or if I can get 18 months offer back ?

Check the fees - usually the 12 month offers are cheaper than the 18 month offers. I had 18 month offers a while ago but they're reverted back to 12 month offers recently so I wonder if the 18 months was just an experiment to see how it would be received?0

Check the terms, most of them say that in order to get 0% you have to transfer it over within the first 60 or 90 days of opening the account.Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

My card was switched from Virgin to MBNA late last year and I was offered an 18 months at 0%.
The other 3 offers since they took over the card late last year, have been for BT's and MT's at 12 months.
Britishbloke, I think the OP is referring to a repeat balance transfer offer, which MBNA cards are very good for. My Virgin (MBNA backed) and now after being switched MBNA card nearly always have had repeat 0% offers on them every month for the past 5 years.0 -
I've had my MBNA card many years.jamesperrett wrote: »Check the fees - usually the 12 month offers are cheaper than the 18 month offers. I did a 0% 12 month balance transfer to the MBNA card last year in March 2013. That expired this year in March 2014.
During this balance transfer they were offering further 12 month balance transfers up until June 2013, when they started to increase the period.
They offered 18 month offers from August 2013 until March 2014
I paid off the balance transfer in April 2014.
The April 2014 offer had reverted back to the 12 month offer.
Not sure if that could be because previous balance transfer on card had expired and/or I had paid off the balance.
Weird, they were offering 18 month offers while I had a balance transfer on the card.
As soon as that expires or I pay off balance the offer has reverted back to 12 months.
Could that explain it ?0 -
I think my 18 month offers started around the same time as yours but ended sooner. I've been slowly paying off a life of balance offer since I opened the card and I don't think I had done anything different in that time.0

Strange, did a balance transfer in June, then next balance transfer offer in July was for longer
16 month period.0 -
Just had the same 16 month offer - while it looks like they're changing it on a whim I'll bet there's some clever marketing reason for the different offers. Wish I knew what it was though...0

lol, I just had to go get a letter from MBNA/Amazon out of my shredding pile, as I thought it was until December 2014, not Dec 2015, lol.
Actually, its just gone back in the shredding pile, 4.5% BT, 5% MT.0
