DIY frame or where to buy?

Hi All
We have for a while wanted to hang a very large mirror with nice frame in our living room.
We have looked around and have not pursued due to the vast cost. Tyring to cost save I have now managed to purchase a second hand mirror (no frame). This mirror is exactly 60 inches X 24 inches.
Now I need a frame to make it look good in a living room to hang. I am certainly no diy expert but would defintely give it a go in order to cost save if someone can suggest quick points on how to build one. Or is this not a good idea?
Or ideally does anyone know where I can get a frame of this size? of whether there is anyone who does frames made to specific sizes?
Thanks

What I did was.....get a really battered but elborate frame hanging some appalling art in a charity shop for pennies. Had to keep looking for a while, but eventually found one of the right size.
Painted it up in black gloss (looks really nice over the detailed frame), then got mirror cut to fit the size of the frame and fitted that in, and attached some of those bits so you can attach to the wall (with wallplugs as a heavy ol' beast)
probably cost in total about £15/20 for a massive feature mirror and doesn't look cheap at all.0 -
Has anyone every built one? do you have to purchase individual components or is there anyethere that sells frame kits?
