Invoice Mistake After Payment

Hi,

We purchased a new house and found our heating wasn't working, we were told by the seller that it had last been serviced by a local heating servicer and were passed his details. We called him to ask him to come and look at the issue for us. He turned up and said we needed a new actuator pump as the old one was broken. He fitted it, told us that he would send us an invoice for the work. There were no quotes or prices discussed. We received the invoice a week or so later for £65.00 and paid.
2 months later we have now received another letter from him saying he had forgotten to charge us for the port actuator head and has asked us to pay another £76.84.

What are our rights here? From a legal standpoint.

Don't you think it's fair to pay for the part?

    If not, why not?

If I was you I would pay. What if you need his services again in the future?

I'd like to know what a actuator pump is ?

but yes the price you paid was too cheap

we all forget things at times & at the price you paid that would have only been labour & not parts, so fair is fair I'd pay
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

often an invoice is broken down into parts, labour and vat.

What was on the original invoice.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Surely if you wanted to know that you would have asked him before he originally done the work

So having plumber in your name I would assume you are a plumber. Maybe you could explain what it is, as I have been in the plumbing/heating business for 31 years and I don't know.....

I'm guessing the OP isn't a plumbing/heating god so it could be they have misheard or miscommunicated what the heating engineer has said?

Just a thought. I wouldn't know my diaphram from my actuator either.

The OP refers to a "port actuator head" at the end of the post. I'm not a plumber, so happy to be corrected by those that are - but isn't that the who-ja-ma-what that diverts the valve for heating / hot water / both ?
