French UPVC doors + window installation from new

Hi,
I've been quoted about £3000 + Vat for putting in a completely new french double doors into garden, and putting in a new UPVC window with the little opening windows at the top.
Labour cost is about £1500 of that (would need support lintels installing etc), £1000 for the french doors and £500 ish for the window.
Does that sound about right for the south east?
They're a local firm, I liked the person who visitingand felt they'd be reliable, especially after a smarmy and unreliable national firm previously visited and failed to even bother to send me a quote after chasing them!
Just weighing up whether we'd be best doing something like this, or buying the doors ourselves from a retailer and paying a builder seperately to install.
any advice / recent experience of this kind of thing for Sussex area would be much appreciated.
cheers

Seems steep - I paid £1500 recently to remove bay windows, grind out and put in French doors with windows either wide. That price includes making good, plastering, putting doors in etc.0

Thanks, is that south east/sussex ish, I know rates do vary area to area....?
I wasn't sure how negotiable these sorts of quotes are....I guess we'll get a few and go from there...
If anyone has any sugestions in Sussex/Brighton/Hove that would be much appreciated...0 -
Nope, this was S Wales but also a local family company.
My father has a developing company in Sussex. I will ask him who he uses for his doors/windows.....0 -
He came back to me with a couple of companies but his guys always did the fitting so probably not that helpful.....

If you are getting quotes, I can recommend a company called justdoorsuk.com. They are suppliers only but French Doors we got last month were under £500. Excellent quality too.Mortgage free 10 years early and retired at the age of 55:j0
