Hello guys
Need some advice...
My car management light came on just before I was due to go away, now it's been looked at once and it's due to be looked at again. In the mean time I've been parking my car in my private communal car park. Basically there's a drive, space for 3 cars and at the back garages. There is a section which a car can park on which isn't a hazard, it's not lined it anything like that and between me and others we park there as and when needed. Overall the car park area is small but providing we all park sensibly everybody can get out without any issues. I left my car there on this section while I went away and again last week. I left for work and then got a message off my flat mate who said the bin men (who drive up and empty the bins by this space) had left a note saying not to park there, why? It's never been an issue, 9/10 when they empty out bins there's a car there and have been since I moved in over 6 years ago. She then told me later on that she saw them drive past and clip the front if my car, leaving a deep scratch. They've left it and drove off!!
So peeps what can I do?
The company is contracted out by the council, they are called Sita.
Thanks

MAke a claim against them.
(And don't park there on bin day anymore! You might not have a witness next time)0 -
Get some quotes.
Then ask if they want to pay up in cash or provide you with their insurance details.0 -
Make a claim, regardless of where you parked they are liable for any damage they caused (if you can prove it)0

Thanks guys,
I'm just worried about the process. I have my witness but the him men might deny it and Sita refuse to pay, I don't know how it goes about making a claim against a company. I'm just annoyed they've done it and just drove on and left a note trying to make out I'm in the wrong!:money::rotfl::T0 -

You get a quote and write in to the company with the quote explaining the circs and asking them to pay your costs and take it from their reply.
(They may not have realised they hit your car)0 -
Ask them for s copy of the CCTV from the back of the bin lorry.0

Just a guess, but it sounds like if you leave you car there in future, there is a risk of it being damaged again during a future bin collectionsarahj1986 wrote: »She then told me later on that she saw them drive past and clip the front if my car, leaving a deep scratch. As you were not around to exchange details with, the driver should have already reported it.0 -

Are you fully comp?
If so, your insurance company should take care of things for you.0
