I am sick of buying inferior cleaners that don't do the job for long before giving up the ghost!!
I am looking for advice before I go out and buy another.

Henry. Can be used with or without a bag. Incredibly robust and long lasting. Industrial quality. Simple to use.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Henry +1
Tough little blighters, good suction too.0 -
Stupid question - have you cleaned all the filters?
We have an £80 bagless cleaner. Every 6-12 months it sounds like it's breaking down and loses most of its suction. There are two different filters we can take out and give a good wash. Once they're clean, the whole thing is good as new.0 -
We have got the Dyson DC28c Multi Floor, and had it for 6 months or so and not had a problem with it. Does what it says for carpet, wood, sofas, car etc. Picks up everything that we need it to.
Easy to empty, and has various attachments (some of which i am not sure what they are for :-))0 -

I completely agree with this...... Bagless DOES NOT mean maintenance free. You have to clean filters regularly as with ALL vacuum cleaners....
I have a 10 year old Dyson and a Henry and both are still going strong.0 -
Thanks for your responses. I do clean filters regularly unfortunately its the parts/tools that seem to break when out of warranty. Just want to buy something reliable and not too heavy! If you change nothing, nothing will change!!0

We have just bought a Hoover Eco G Express. £100. Really good suction and easy to empty. Only negative points are that it is a bit heavy and quite noisy.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
More info needed. Upright or cylinder? Carpets or hard floors? For an upright, you can't go wrong with a professionally refurbed Dyson DC07 or DC14.
Budget? You cannot buy a decent upright vacuum for much under £200 new.No free lunch, and no free laptop
