5 One off fees debited from my account?!?
Hello guys,
Kinda panicking here to be honest so any help would do.
I'm not in desperate need of a loan but out of curiosity and with some wedding bills coming up this month I decided to look for a £1000 loan. I searched online and requested a quote from a website (can't remember which). Site kept me going round and round and ended up inputting my details several times, including my bank details (I know, naive). There was no satisfactory quote so I ended up my search there.
I went to my account a few days later and I have FIVE one off fees debited from my account, equaling more than £300!! Some of these websites are owned by the same companies and in 3 of them my email is not even recognised in their database!
Should I contact my bank and have those fees canceled?
I read here that I should write to those companies and request a refund and I should get the total amount less £5 admin fee. Is this right?
Should I quote that I know I'm protected by the Consumer Credit Act 1974 section 155 and that I let my local Trading Standards Office aware I'm requesting this refund as some kind of pressure?
The companies are:
Cash Locator - £67.74
Cornwall Buildings, 45 Newhall Street, Birmingham, B3 3QR
Smart Loans - £68.50
Cornwall Buildings, 45 Newhall Street, Birmingham, B3 3QR
Credit Maze - £68.50
Cornwall Buildings, 45 Newhall Street, Birmingham, B3 3QR
Loans direct uk - £69.75
The1loan - £58.99
Beechfield House, Winterton Way, Lyme Green Business Park, Macclesfield, Cheshire, SK11 0LP
Thanks in advance!

Just follow the procedures for these companies to get your refund.
Why involve trading standards? You entered your debit card details into these websites willy nilly without reading the t&c. Learn from it, move on and enjoy your wedding.0 -

As Pixie says, there's no way to legitimately get Trading Standards involved, as you've willingly imputted your details.
You need to write (pen, paper, 2nd class stamp, posted from post office with free proof of postage), and a refund will be forthcoming within 32 days (30 days allowed, plus two days for your letter to reach them)
There is no chargeback code for 'I didn't read the terms and conditions', so no recourse from the bank.
This will cost you £25, plus five 2nd class stamps, which will make you think about doing it again. If you need the loan in future, speak with your bank.

So should I just send it normal postage, and get a free postage proof?
No point on sending registered/signed?0 -

CK"Facism arrives as your friend. It will restore your honour, make you feel proud, protect your house, give you a job, clean up the neighbourhood, remind you of how great you once were, clear out the venal and the corrupt, remove anything you feel is unlike you... [it] doesn't walk in saying, "our programme means militias, mass imprisonments, transportations, war and persecution."0 -
Also - won't sending it unregistered just mean that you can prove that the post office sent it, and not that the company received it (which is really what you want)?"Facism arrives as your friend. It's deemed delivery, and will hold enough weight in court (as I've proven on behalf of others several times.)
If sent recorded, it's more easy for the company to reject, too.

Already requested refunds from all 5 companies, 4 by letter and one of their website (as it should be according to their site).
One thing I was wondering, in case I have problems with the 3 companies that should refund me that are in the same building in Birmingham, should I visit said building since I'm close to Birmingham? Would that help?0
