London Black Cabs - Praise !

Following on from our previous about Rail Travel we felt that the Black Cab drivers we used in London were , without exception , truly brilliant when hailed with wheelchair user wanting a cab !
For example , arrived at Kings X and going to the Ibis at Euston we enquired if the journey would be too short at the taxi rank ....
" No Problem Mate , Jump in " then proceeded to get the ramp out for access to the cab and off we went , the fare was actually £3-40 and took about 4 minutes ! think it took more time getting the ramp in & out and the chair secured than the actual travel time but never once did he moan , indeed he was chatty asking where we were going and other stuff !
We used the Black Cabs on more than a dozen occasions and , without fail , they were all of an equal calibre to the first one !
So "Well Done " you Black Cab Guys ( and the Lady ) you made our visit so much easier !
A Bast**d I May Be ! I Was Born One !
Whats Your Excuse ?

They're wonderful aren't they. Did you know that on Remembrance Sunday they pick up veterans after the service at Whitehall and ferry them to their destinations for free. Makes you feel proud to live here doesn't it.

You don't realise the brilliance of black cab drivers in London until you're in a country where anyone can get off the boat on Tuesday and be a cabbie on Wednesday (like most of the world).

I use black cabs (Hackney's) exclusively in London now - sometimes much cheaper than pre-booked cars too, and know where they're going. I did have a private hire from Putney who (genuinely) asked me which street 'Paddington Station' was on, !!!!!!.

There's an app 'Hailo' which makes black cabs even easier and more convenient - best of all worlds, strongly recommended and it lets you pay by credit card too.

Good for a lot of things.......but they don't go Sarf of the river....;) they are obviously allergic to tunnels and bridges.....

Private licensed (from a reputable firm), are as good though, as with GPS/Satnavs/online booking gizmos they can usually give the price in advance.

When my son and family, come home to visit from America, I always pre-book, and pay for, a private hire to pick them up from Heathrow, because it's about a third cheaper than a black cab (even if you could get them to go South), and private hire from airports, has always been reliable..

Living in London, I use both, depending on the situation and location.

    Lin :)
You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)
