I suspect webmail, no client. That's what I'd expect to happen with no client in use...

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

I was thinking the same thing. Isn't there a way to open Gmail web from a clickable email address (90% certain I saw a method a while ago)?

hover over the email address, html code should look something like mailto:brightonman123@mse.com

only copy and pasty everything after the mailto: bit!

that's what I'm trying to solve, prior to this prob I only needed to click on the clickable email address to get it written on my gmail, now I have to copy and past and I want to change as it was...

Do you use webmail (eg gmail.com) or a client (eg Thunderbird)?

No idea I used to click on any clickable link and get it on my gmail now I can't. I have no idea what you are talking about.

This web page implies that if you want to use gmail to open clickable email links (mailto links) in IE, you'll need the Google toolbar, but other browsers may support it directly: http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/open-email-links-gmail/

Also different versions of IE might work differently.
