Job Offer P45/p46 worries.

I dont really know where to start but I really would appreciate any help at all as this is really stressing me out.
I finished uni two years ago and began working cash in hand for my dads company just to have some money to get by on without having to sign on (not that I have a problem with it).
I worked there for about year and half and became depressed with not doing anything with my degree so i left (january 2014)to focus on finding a better job.
Recently after numerous failed interviews i have been offered a job which i was so happy about. However it was not until I got the contract through the post that i realised the problem that i am actually in.
I have to provide a p45 to the new company and obviously i dont have one as my dad was paying me cash. My problem is that i dont know what to do now, do i just sign a p46 and hope i get away with it or do I tell them that it was just casual work and that it was under the taxble amount.
Im just woried about any of this getting my dad in trouble as i know he would not be able to afford any heavy fines. Would i be better off just turning the job down and returning to work for my dad.
Sorry this is so long i didnt know how to condense it down and thanks for any replies if i get any at all :A

Was it actually below NI and tax thresholds?
If you left in January, that is the old tax year. Though I think P45 forms can be used by a new employer for a while, it is not vital.
Complete a Starter form (P46 or substitute).
Don't work "cash in hand" (if by that you mean something illegal).0 -
I don't really not anything about the cash in hand business but there is no reason why you can't just fill in a p46.
You wouldn't be lying about anything. You just tick the appropriate box. You dont fill in any of your previous employer details. I can't see it causing a problem. If you don't have a p45 you fill in p46- no matter what the reason.0 -
To clarify: you stopped working for your father in January?
If so, then that is not relevant to your started declaration. You will be asked if this is your first job since 6th April which presumably it is. Any P45 issued before that is now useless anyways, even if you had one.
In the future, if you work for your father, ensure that you're registered properly as the penalties for him could be severe.Sealed Pot Challenge #239
