Parking Eye Fine advice please

Hi all,
I have received a letter from Parking eye (no ticket issued on car) stating I must pay £70 (Referred to as a 'parking charge') before 16th May as I stayed 2 hours 14 minutes in an Aldi car park where maximum stay was 1 hour 30 minutes.
They have timed pictures from a cctv camera of my car and reg entering and leaving the car park.
The letter does say 'Further to the recent parking charge notice, this parking charge remains outstanding, however this is the 1st letter I have received from them.
Having just read the newbie sticky I read that they must issue a letter within 15 Days, as the 'Date of the event' was 12th April and the date issued is 17th April, but the letter date is 27th April (a Sunday) Is there anything in this?
Also having seen a few standard reply letters that ask the parking companies to show a proof of loss of earning, is this the same here as surely the supermarket could produce something.
I'm not sure what to do, What happens if I haven't paid the fine/appealed before my 16th May deadline?
What happens if I completely ignore it?
I didn't shop in the supermarket either so can't provide a receipt,
Any help will be appreciated!
Thanks in advance

First off it is not a "fine"
All the details of how to handle this are in the newbies thread.0 -

3) I'm not sure what to do, What happens if I haven't paid the fine/appealed before my 16th May deadline?
1) What happens if I completely ignore it?
2) I didn't shop in the supermarket either so can't provide a receipt,

1) its likely to end up in small claims court if you follow the IGNORE route (a set of court papers from northampton)
2) difficult if not impossible to get a landowner to cancel a ticket UNLESS you have receipts proving you shopped there
3) so you follow the advice in the NEWBIES sticky thread at the top of the forum , as advised in the previous reply , seemingly you didnt read it before posting ?0 -

I read through it quickly, having just read through again properly I will be using the template provided,
Would it be worth writing to Aldi ? (despite the fact I didn't go there)
Does it make a difference whether I appeal by post or through the PPC website?
Thanks Again.0 -
there is a long running ALDI thread on here , where if you read it you would realise that for aldi to cancel tickets they want proof of shopping on site
its also a thread about their facebook account etc
my opinion is they wont care if you didnt have a shop receipt , neither will they cancel, they will just refer you to PE , same as has happened with dozens of other people who parked on their car parks and didnt buy anything , never mind those who overstayed or could not exit the car park in time !
you should concentrate on beating this on the legal issues explained in the NEWBIES thread, skim reading wont do you or us any good, its there for people to read, digest and understand the "score" , it also has the first template letter for the initial appeal, which will probably be turned down and should generate a popla code
online or by post with free certificate of posting from the PO, the choice is yours to make0 -
Appeal on the website but also send a hard copy to the PPC. Put a stamp on the letter and go to the Post Office and get a free proof of posting.
Don't send it registered or recorded delivery, as the PPC may choose not to receive it.
Don't forget to keep a copy.
It is likely that your appeal to the PPC will fail. What you are seeking from their rejection of your appeal is a POPLA code. Using this code you can easily win if you follow the advice in the sticky thread.0 -
Thanks for the replies!
I've got the template and I'm going to send the letter off tomorrow!
If my appeal and POPLA both fail what would happen then, would I just have to pay the £70 charge?
Thanks again!0 -
popla would advise you to pay the charge, that is your choice to make , as popla isnt binding on the motorist0

Your POPLA appeal will not fail, provided that you word it correctly as advised by the forum. All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. Edmund Burke Irish orator, philosopher, & politician (1729 - 1797).0 -

Thanks guys!
So today I received the 'rejection of invalid invoice' letter which seems to be a standard useless reply from PE as others have said, however it's the only thing I have received,
There is no popla code or mention of popla, Is there another letter on its way that I haven't received yet?
What do I do now? Do I wait to see if I receive another letter from them? Do I write to the BPA reporting PE and to PE demanding a popla code? If so is there any templates around?
Thanks for all the advice0
