  • Great thanks a lot. SouthCoastrgi.

I think I may have solved the mystery though. I was just looking at the boiler, and noticed a little 'sun icon' on the boiler control panel. I've never seen it before, and I certainly didn't activate it.

I did some research, and supposedly it indicates that the boiler is in 'summer mode.'

Someone on another forum says that ' I understand that in summer mode you only get hot water and no heating!'

Im hoping, fingers crossed that this summer mode is the problem. I imagine it was turned on accidentally, after hitting the boiler with a broom handle.

Just about to check it out!

    Cheers

then yes it could be the divertor valve inside the boiler,

are you sure the summer/winter switch on the front of the boiler is in the winter setting ?

    Hi SouthCoastrgi

The boiler was definitely in 'summer mode' and shouldn't have been...

I reckon it's something to do with the electronic controller on the boiler. I pressed the rubber button with a pen beside the sun icon which represents 'summer mode.' The button didn't respond as it should.

I hit a few more buttons, and turned the boiler on and off. Out of sheer luck, 'summer mode' is now off and the heating is back on. The big question is for how long?

I don't reckon it would be possible to activate 'summer mode' accidentally, so I reckon something within the boiler controller has played up - just my guess.

    Cheers

  • Yes. I located the summer/winter switch, and pressed it down with a pen. It initially didn't seem to respond. Hit a few other buttons, turned the boiler on/off, reset, etc, then the sun icon mysteriously disappeared, and heating came back on..

No idea what the problem is, but it's sorted, for now...

    Thanks
