PayPal e-cheque and eBay

Received payment for a BIN item in the form of an e-cheque. My first ever.
Apparently it will clear sometime between the 16-20 May.
The buyer has -1 feedback.
Paypal advise not to send item until payment is cleared.
However, the eBay app on my phone kindly told me that payment is received, time to ship.
Now, I'm not silly. The chances of it clearing are remote, but I think eBay advising its time to ship is astonishing.
I also think that 5-7 working days to process a payment is ridiculous.
I have emailed the buyer to make him aware that there will be a delay, no response as yet.

This is the sort of thing that annoys me about eBay, the fact that the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.
