How to hang heavy lined curtains on to new double glazed windows

I am having a new pvc double glazed bay window installed in my bedroom next week but am at a lost as to how I will re-hang the heavy curtains. Can I drill holes in the top of the plastic? At the moment I have a plastic track that is screwed into the wooden frame. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Normally you should have a curtain 'plate' =
a piece of timber around 75mm x 15mm fixed above the window.0 -

When the old wooden frame is removed next week all the wood will be removed and replaced with plastic, that is what I understand will happen. All I will be left is a two inch gap between the ceiling and the new plastic frame. And the ceiling has some sort of beading running along the edge so I can't screw the curtain track into the ceiling. I should have thought this thru before I ordered the new window!!0 -
You can screw through the upvc moulding to take the curtain fixings =
The upvc would have to be secured with the appropriate fixings depending on what's behind it, timber or brick, these fixings could be installed first then the curtain fixings installed on top of the screw heads to hide them .
Best to ask the fitters what material is behind the upvc.0 -

I'll talk to them on Saturday when they start installing the new windows.
Thanks again for the advice.0 -
I wouldn't screw anything into your new frames if you can avoid it because it looks rubbish (previous owners of last flat did this) & you've (probably) just spent a fortune on them. I'm not sure they'd take the weight either. Put a curtain pole or track on the wall if you can. 2" should be enough for a track, but put it on a piece of wood, as Prof landlord suggests, to make life easier & it will look better too.
Maybe you could ask the fitters to fit narrower plastic stuff (the surround) so that you have more space at the top? You can get bay window poles in John Lewis, not sure how much space they need though. There are also some poles that are on brackets that swing to the side, but doubt they'd work on a bay window.0 -
I'd talk to them before they come to fit, as they may be able to work something out if they have a think/bit of notice.0

How about having a curtain rack system that screws to the ceiling???? A 20mm board 60mm wide mitrered to run // to bay window should do the job0

Adding to this.....a nice valence would hide the wooden support and make your new window look like a $1Million!0
