Remaining mortgage after death

My mum passed away a few weeks ago. She only has a few thousand left on the mortgage. I am in the process of completing a probate form. She died suddenly without making a will and I am her next of kin and beneficiary. Am I able to pay the mortgage out of my own money or will the house have to be sold to cover it?

You will be able to pay off the mortgage yourself if that's what you want - either now or out of the estate money when you get it.
There will be a place on the probate form to record it as a debt0 -
