TMobile - billing error - taken money not owed

I have been having problems with T Mobile lately.
Last month they billed me in error, this resulted in money being taken from my account and me receiving a bank charge.
I had to fight T Mobile to accept responsibility for the billing error, which they did, and they agreed to refund the bank charge.
Instead of refunding the bank charge to me, they applied the refund to my account, but then also applied a charge to my account for the same amount. So another billing error. I didn't get my bank charge refund, but even worse they charged me VAT on the charge applied to my account, so another billing error.
Now, I am still owed my bank charge, but on top of that I am also owed the VAT back that they took from my account on the second billing error.
I told T Mobile about the VAT error at least two weeks before they took the money from my account, but they still took it anyway.
Is there anything I can do about this, or anybody I can escalate the complaint to?

If the money is being taken from your bank account by direct debit, then you can make use of the Direct Debit Guarantee. If money is wrongly taken from your account, then the bank is responsible for refunding it.
Contacting the bank directly may be a lot quicker than arguing back and forth with T Mobile. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
