You've done really well to make any inroads into your debt on half pay! And good job on the ebaying too. I must start ebaying again, I have various kids' clothes I put aside earlier in the year as they were the wrong season to sell, and I could really do with a bit of extra cash.

Are you ready for our sub-10k celebration? :D
  • I'm so ready :D are you?

The bad news: My car failed its MOT, costing me £222 so far in repairs, and it's still at the garage...

My employer underpaid me this month (half pay when I should have been paid full pay as I'm now back at work full time...)

The good news: I got a letter this morning confirming I will be getting a PPI refund of just over £300 (which will cover the cost of the car repairs)

I will also be reimbursed for my underpaid wages, but I will have to wait for June payday...

So it's going to be a tight month but it would have been even worse had I not got the PPI refund (I was inspired to apply for it using the MSE templates from the website, and I'm so pleased I did)

So really, this has all been good timing despite the car expenses - now the question is, can I readjust my budget to make it through the month and still get enough debt shifted to make it under 10k?!

Ooh, well done on the PPI! I feel for you over the MOT, I always dread them and the inevitable bill that follows. But thank goodness you've got the PPI money coming in.

You can get under £10k, I know you can. I have the streamers and party hats ready ;)
  • So the total cost for car repairs was just under £500

I'm still waiting for the PPI refund to be paid into my bank account, but have spoken to the company involved and have been informed that it will be paid in the next few days... (but when? When?! Trying not to sound desperate here!)

Total debt now stands at £10,275 and I'm still aiming to get it under 10k this month...

I'm also going to my first ever clothes swapping party this week, so that should be a fun way to spend an afternoon with friends without spending money...

So a minor setback with the car bill, but I'm still heading onwards towards debt freedom... :)

How was the clothes swapping party? It does sound fun, did you get anything good?
  • Clothes swapping party was great and I was very pleased with my 'new' clothes :) I would definitely go to an event like that again, it encouraged me to have a sort out too..

Good news... Total debt is now under £10k and continuing to decrease :D

  • I haven't updated in a while - been too exhausted working in this heat!

It sometimes feels like very slow going when I look at the totals in my signature but I have to remind myself I'm nearly £1500 less in debt than I was 4 months ago and the totals do keep going down slowly...

Also, Barclaycard have offered me a balance transfer at 6.9% for life of the balance. I don't need it at the moment as all my debt (apart from Barclaycard) is already on 0% deals. However, I'm taking this as a positive sign that my credit history is improving :)

My goal at the moment remains to completely clear the Barclaycard by the end of this year at the latest... watch this space!
