DP (Direct Payments) for Carer Explained

i need help with someone who knows about direct payments explaining direct payments please.

do people who receive direct payments have to give a reason to the social workers why they would want them or is it the person's legal right/choice to be able to try to find and employ someone they like and have a good understanding with to enjoy the service better? or is not liking the current carers not a good enough reason to have direct payments?

thx

Social workers have a duty to offer someone who has been assessed as having an identified need and meets the criteria for funding, a direct payment (there are some exceptions). So if you are receiving care from say an agency which is funded by social services you should have been offered the choice of receiving a direct payment. It has nothing to do with liking or disliking the current carers.
