Contravention 86

Hi everyone new member here after some advice , my wife was given a parking ticket today in a council run multi storey car park . A ticket was purchased and she returned to the car in plenty of time but the reason for the ticket issue was contravention 86 not parked correctly within the markings of a bay or space . The wife said the rear wheel was on the white line but in no way into the next space and the car park was almost empty . Should I appeal and what do you think my chances are ? The wife said just pay it but I am  I have never heard of this before , any advice please , Thank you

What you need to do is to see if you can find out exactly how "contravention 86" is defined by the council concerned.

    This site for example:
    http://www.nidirect.gov.uk/further-details-of-contravention-code-86
states that in order for a ticket to be issued, "at least one full wheel of the vehicle must be outside the markings of the parking space or bay"

    and this one:
    http://www.appealnow.com/parking-tickets/contravention-codes/
states that the vehicle must be parked "beyond the bay markings"
which to me implies that a vehicle parked on and not beyond the white line should be fine.

If this was a PENALTY charge notice issued by the council then head over to https://www.pepipoo who are more familiar with appealing council tickets. create your own thread there and post up pictures of both sides of the Penalty Charge Notice

Andy666 - do NOT post a new topic there without pictures of BOTH SIDES of the PCN!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
