Reclaiming income tax

Hi just wonder if you could help me with some advise?
I have received an PPI INT REFUND from Barclays and they have informed me on a letter that I may be able to claim back the income tax from HM Revenue & customs directly and fill in a R40 claim form.
Do you think this would be a good way forward for me and the correct thing to do?

kind regards

Eddie Cruz

If you shouldn't be paying tax, then yes, you will be able to claim it back.

    MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.

    Are you a taxpayer?

If not then this is basically like walking past a tenner on the floor and asking if it would be a good idea to pick it up.
