How does one keep towels fluffy?
No matter what I do I can't get mine to stay fluffy after more than 3 washes! I've tried line drying, radiator drying, tumble drying, different fabric softeners, no fabric softeners, ironing, not ironing etc.etc. My MIL bought us quite expensive designer towels and they did the same as my cheaper ones after a few washes. Generally I buy those soft Portuguese cotton ones from Dunelm as they're much softer than the high thread count ones and they're only about £7 for a bath sheet - there's nothing worse than a small bath towel IMO. We live in a soft water area too so it's not even that!“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A. Hi,Do you do socks as well?
no, don't do socks or u/p's , though bed has to be fresh.
Stayed in a B&B in Belfast once, sheets were that fluffy kinda stuff and the pillows were manky, had to put a T shirt over them to ease myself into sleep, and that was after a good few pints.0 -

You didn't say if you were ' really gorgeous/beautiful/intelligent/good with money)?
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
I think I am good with money though -never without some kind of voucher in my wallet.0 -

I hate hotel bed linen, especially B&Bs. They're always old, white linen is invariably grey and don't get me started on pillows and blankets (do they EVER get washed? Comforter style blankets they fold up at the end of the bed are always disgusting). Everytime I walk into a hotel room I always think of those episodes of CSI where they "black-light" everything and the room glows with "invisible" stains - ick!
I also get really irritated by this seemingly new trend for hotels to call two single beds pushed together a "double bed". No, a double bed is a double mattress, not two single bases pushed together (horizontally or vertically) with two single mattresses which always push apart. I always seem to end up lying on the gap and it's really uncomfortable! It may be money-saving for the hotel to have versatile beds but it's not good customer service.
I'm getting to the stage where if I book a hotel room now I specifically ask if they do this and request confirmation in an email so that if we are given a room like this I can request to swap.“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A. Hi,POPPYOSCAR wrote: »Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
ok,, I'll be the beholder,
but only if I can teach you how to iron a shirt.0 -
Lol, I'm going to borrow a phrase from an old colleague:
It's not so much a "skill" issue as a "will" issue
I know how to iron a shirt, after all I was a Brownie and it's a basic skill they used to teach along with how to clean a knife safely and how to sew. I'd just as soon avoid it if I can
That said, I couldn't iron with one of those old-fashioned irons, I need the steam ones otherwise it takes forever lol.“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A. Hi,
I remember an auntie, used to heat a flat iron in front of an open fire before she could use it.0 -
Thank God for the invention of washing machines, tumble dryers and steam irons!
My history teacher used to say that the three most important inventions for women's lib in the 20th century were the washing machine, the contraceptive pill and the microwave lol. SO glad I don't need to wash my clothes by hand anymore.“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A. Hi Noctu, I work in an office where smart dress is essential.I have 5 work blouses per week and as soon as they are done I put on hangers. I used to hang these on the shower rail but now have a screen so i put them on a over the door hook. They don't
take long to iron and that is job done. I use the same method for skirts & trousers too.0 -
I can't iron to save my life and I live alone so I was getting them washed and ironed in a launderette but that was quite expensive so the solution for me was to buy non-iron shirts and they are brilliant I take them out of the machine and put them on hangers and wall-a they dry without a crease brilliant they are on average about £35 to buy but I have bought 10 on ebay over the last 9 months the most I have paid is £10 the last one which I bought 2 weeks ago was 99p plus £4 postage and the Quality is brilliant I will never buy any other type of shirt.Low Carb High Fat is the way forward I lost 80 lbs
Since first using Martins I have saved thousands0
