Baxi 80e combi boiler problems

Hi

I have a Baxi 80e combi boiler that has started misbehaving
When the hot tap is running the pressure on the central heating system starts to climb to the point the pressure release valve activates and then the boiler shuts down.

I've turned it all off as I'm worried something might go bang.

Question is what is it likely to be?
I rang one heating engineer who said it might be the diverter valve or the heat exchanger but can't get over to me for a couple of weeks.
Another I rang said he could be here tomorrow but he said it was probably knackered and I'd need a new one.

Any ideas??

I have had the exact same problem except my radiators also warmed up when i turn the hot tap on. A faulty heat exchange and/or diverter valve is indeed the most likely fault I have been told, either the diverter isn't diverting correctly or the heat exchange has a leak inside it placing hot water from one side if the system to the other. I have released the pressure from the central heating system and turned the front dial to hot water only and this is working fine while I figure out whether to repair or replace.

The fault needs to be rectified by a Gas Safe engineer. You cannot fix it yourself.
