Late Payment E.E

Hi Folks, First post on here.I set up at the end of april a phone contract for my gf with E.E and a sim only contract for myself with 3. For both it's payment using direct debit. Both accounts were set up on the 24th April, my first payment for 3mobile is on the 24th May and I presumed it would be the same for E.E.
Checked my internet banking and have seen a returned direct debit of £37.99 on the 8th May for E.E, why would they have tried to take it 16 days before? Surely a monthly contract means that it comes out once a month, not 2 weeks into the month?
I'm going to contact E.E later but I just wanted your advice before I called them. Will this affect my credit history?
Sorry about the long post and thanks for you help.
Kind Regards,Rob

Hi Robert, I'm with EE also and I've learned that they bill on 17th of a month and expect payment by 7th of the next at the latest. I got a late charge of £5 added as I had paid on 11th -- I don't pay by DD though. I would have thought that if they set up a DD for you they would have set it up to be on time!!!! And they should certainly have told you when they would be taking the payment!!!
If you ring them they will probably be helpful if you have just set up your account and remove any charges etc - they waived my £5 late fee and told me to pay between 2nd and 6th each month.
If you get on to them straight away it may prevent it affecting your credit but I'm not sure - ask them about this.£10 a day extra in May '18[B]£35/310[

Hi Hummingbird,
Thanks for your quick response.
I just find it odd the way there payment system works compared to other providers. When I initially called them on the 24th April to set up the direct debit I wasn't even told when it would be taken off!
I'll call them in just a bit and let you know the outcome.
Kind regards, Rob0 -
Hi again Robert,
Yes do stress to them that you didn't get informed of when the DD would go out. If you only set the contract up on 24th I think most companies would normally start your DD after the next billing cycle, not 2 weeks after you joined!
Let me know how you get on, will be interested to hear!£10 a day extra in May '18[B]£35/310[

For future reference it's a good idea to check such things rather than presume.
I find it helps to have all of your direct debits go out on a certain date each month. This then helps me remember to ask companies to set it up so that my payments go out on that date, and then I know when it will be taken.
All of my payments go out on the 1st.What will your verse be?

Your bill would have told you the date your Direct Debit would have been collected.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0

Log in and actually view the bill which is viewable as a pdf normally.
Does the bill say it will be collected by direct debit?Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

I'd go to another network!
From experience you can pay your bill upto 14 days late before it's reported as a late payment.
Just so you are aware my replies was more in relation to the OPs query rather than your circumstances.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0
