How do we know if there is an effective airlock?
I will report the problem if it's still there after the high winds have gone, although we didn't notice this in the last high winds? Is it possible it's just happened this time?

Provided the water is still covering the U bend at the bottom of the toilet bowl, you still have an airlock.
I had the disappearing water in the toilet at my old flat. It was like that for 20 years, and never caused a problem.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
