Tax on property owned in France?

Does anyone know where we would start with registering to pay tax on our holiday property that we own in France?

We bought an apartment in the Alps - so far we've a handful of bookings, but not sure where to go to start registering, even if we don't owe any tax, I presume we have to register the income somehow?

Any advise gratefully received. TIA

Call HMRC & ask them, they'll be able to help
"Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.
"I think I'll become an alcoholic," said Betty.

NO NO dont call then. see an accountant first asking how you can avoid (legally) paying any tax. Not the same as tax evasion.
Theres plenty of legal loopholes. Or a financial advisor with experience of property.
Thats what I did. They can be very informative and the latter is usually first consultation free with some

I have a feeling that there may be tax payable to the french authorities for rent earned in France. It is important that you get this checked out properly as I believe anyone can report you for tax evasion in France (so don't fall out with your neighbours) and the French tax inspectors are very rigourous and want receipts and proof of income/expenses for several years.
I would hunt down an accountant who specialises in French property rented out by british owners. I'm guessing they'll be lots of red tape, being France and all!

There's a double taxation treaty with France I believe. As far as I understand it, any tax you pay in France you can knock off your UK liaiblity (assuming you're resident in the UK for tax).

See an accountant though. Money well spent IMHO.
