Red and gold large letter stamps - what's the difference?

scriberuk
We have recently purchased 10 packs of 4 x "1st Large" red stamps from Costco - on the back it says the max weight is 100g. However on the Royal Mail website it says a "Large" is 750g.
There are many examples all over the web of the same confusion - there are 100g stamps for sale but the description says 750g...
Now my actual question is over the colour... The stamps used to be gold but now they are red - is that new? Are the gold ones 750g and the red 100g?
Confused!
Thanks,
Scriberuk

There is no difference in the value of the stamps by colour. The colour was changed with last year price rise, but they are still the same value.
Large letter stamps will only cover you up to 100 grams. Not too sure where you have got the 750 grams from. [STRIKE]Maybe you could provide a link (break it up as you can't post full links yet)[/STRIKE]
Don't worry got it here.

As, you can see from the link each LL stamp is worth 93p and you can send a large letter up to 750 grams, but 750 grams will cost you £2.38. HTH0 -
Large Letters are all different rates from 0-100g , 100g - 250g, 250g - 500g, 500g - 750gWarning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Your statutory rights are not affected.0

To clarify some of the above.
A large letter first class stamp can be used to post a large letter up to 100g.
It can also be used as part payment (of 93p) for any other postage service.
The colour is immaterial, they change them occasionally and bring out special edition ones too. If it has "first" and "large letter" on it then it's worth 93p and can be used for a large letter up to 100g..0 -
Thank you MSE people - that has helped clarify things
I'll pop to the Post Office and get some 20p, 10p & 1p (31p) stamps to make up the difference.
