When does 'any' not mean 'any'?

Apparently when it is a Sainsbury's offer!
Sainsbury's currently have a offer on of 2 for £6 or 4 for £10 on ANY Whiskas pouches.
These labels plus others just showing the £6 offer are all over the shelves.
Having been caught out by Sainsbury's offers before I checked the label which clearly said 'any'.
Bought 4 packs but got charged £12. On querying this, I was told that some of the packs had their own 2 for £6 offer but weren't included in the £10 offer.
Instead of putting the exclusions on the £10 offer labels, customers are supposed to realise that the separate 2 for £6 labels are not included in the offer. Some of the £6 offers stated specific pack types but others didn't so it wasn't clear that they weren't all in the £10 offer which as I said used the words 'any'.
Definitely got the impression that I wasn't the first one to complain.
I asked if they could they make it clearer by separating the different offers on the shelf - apparently not as it is all dictated by head office.
I know it is only £2 but Sainsbury's will be coining it in across all the customers who don't realise.
