Fitting radiator valve extension

I'm in the middle of fitting copper tails to my bedroom radiator to replace the plastic ones. Did it successfully with the bathroom radiator a couple of years ago so want to do this one before I get a new carpet fitted.
A small problem I've encountered - there's a beam directly below the valve. The simplest solution seemed to be get an extension pipe to take it past the beam but now I'm not sure the best way to fit it.
This is the new TRV I've got

and the extension

Should it fit with the extension replacing the existing pipe, which would only add about 25mm?

or option 2 which I'd assume I'd need to find another nut to secure it?

Or should I go back and get this instead?

This type of extension is designed to be used instead of the original tail piece. They are available in 2 sizes 25 and 40mm. Other types of extensions are available to add to the original tail piece. They are available in 25, 50, 75 and 100mm length from most independent plumbers merchants.0
