How many days notice?

I have a rather casual rolling contract with my private landlord. When moving in a while ago I asked about notice and he said we'll sort something out when the time comes. Being an excited young 20 something moving out of my parents house, I didn't care at the time.
My rent comes out on the 1st of each month. Should I aim to give notice just before the 1st, for 30 days notice? Or is 2 months the given?

Should normally be 1 calendar month and must expire on the date your rent is taken.0

Does that still count if we pay for the up and coming month on the 1st?0

What date did the property become yours? Did you ever have a fixed term or has it been a rolling agreement from the start?Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0

We paid on the 1st, and it was ours to move in on the 1st.

You would need to serve notice by the 1st of the month and be moved out by the last day of the month.0

Did you pay a deposit? Was it registered? (assuming you have a rental tenancy and do not live in the same house as the landlord as a lodger).0
