In that case you read this:

We are with these. Debt from morgan stanley over to them back last year. Must admit they are good. No hassle from them and certainly no pressure like others we have dealt with. We are currently paying £20.00 a month ( debt stands at £850.00 ) and hoping by the endof the year to pay it of as they said they would give us a percentage off.:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0

Hi, had the exact same letter on 11th June and havent heard anything since (even though the 21 day limit has expired). Im going to see what happens next. I might send the "i DO NOT acknowledge any debt....." Also, if they cant supply the original Signed Credit Agreement they dont have a leg to stand on.Im just worried if they put a default on my credit file - which I know is clean at the moment as Ive just been successful in credit searches.I'll let you know if anything else happens.Pablo0

Hi
As fermi says, it is likely that this debt is uncollectable, so you need to send them the debtline letter.
Do not pay anything unless you have been convinced in writing that
1. there has been contact in the last six years.
2. they have a signed Consumer Credit Agreement.
And any correspondence you send to them must start
I do not acknowledge any debt to your comapny...If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

if they put a default on your credit file, then they could be in trouble. Get back here and there are several people who could provide a letter instructig them to clean up your record and pay you damages. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Thanks RAS - at the moment Im 100% sure my credit file is clean as I have recently been given credit. Will check my file to see whats on there. So they cant just put a default on then??Pablo0

They can't until they have proved the debt is yours and it is not statute barred (see nationaldebtline link provided earlier). They are acting illegally if they do so without first satisfying these criteria.
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

I also recieved a letter from them today, similar situation from an age old debt. I called them to say the person named on the letter doesn't live at this address. They politely said they would remove my address and i wouldn't recieve any further mail.0
