Company Car and personal NCD
Hi Guys,
I have just landed a job with a fully expensed company car - and I am toying with the idea of selling my own car as it's not really needed. I am single and live alone and having a motorcycle and car plus company car seems a little extravagant. But I have 12+ years of no claims discount(bonus) and am of the belief I will lose it after two years if it's not used. Any advice on what I can do as if and when I want to insure another car I will get stung for not having any NCD ??
Thanks for any help
Keef

It varies by insurer, 2 is the norm, Coop allows 3, dont know anyone that does longer.
The normal trick is to switch whos the policyholder every year with your partner on the other family car but that isnt going to be relevant for you.
How long are you expecting to be stuck with a company car?0 -
Thanks for the quick response, I am going to be covering an average of 55000 miles a year in the job, so don't really want to use my own. Having a company car is new to me so not sure what the other alternatives are..
So as long as I'm in the job I will have the car I expect..0 -
Just get rid of your car and then buy a cheap to insure banger after 23 months, insure it for a year then scrap it. 23 months aftre scrapping it do the same again0

Cheers donkey - that is what I was thinking of doing ;-)0

What sort of job do you have that allows you to drive 55000 miles per year? Sorry to go off thread but that can't be safe.....0

Also check with HR, my company can provide valid no claims notices itself for employees moving from company cars back to private cars.
I think it depends on the company size, mine is so big it self-insures only using an insurance company to underwrite for claims over £40K. As an insurance provider it can issue its own no claims.European for 3 weeks in August, the rest of the year only British and proud.0 -
Ive lost my no claims through having a company car. But not bothered. Dont need em, got a car. Some insurance companies will take a letter from your company as proof of no claims(assuming that is the case).0

The mileage is not that bad and yes it's safe around 300 a day not bad at all0
