Benefit Cap

Hi, I hope you don't mind me asking. With the benefit cap, is it the total amount of benefits for rent or is it including other benefits? The reason I ask is that I see a keyworker and she thought it was just housing benefit but I thought it meant the total amount of benefits you could have?

There is a maximum amount of housing benefit you can get. But the benefit cap includes all benefit.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Indie is correct and you are, keyworker is wrong! It is your total benefits including HB/LHA.
Although it is worth clarifying for the future as I don't know does it include DLA/PIP payments in the CAP? Or are they discounted?Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy - Anne Frank :A0 -

If you look at all the "Don't cap my benefits" type programmes on tv, the benefit cap is for those able bodied who don't work enough hours per week for Working Tax Credits.
I assume that this cap is to ease those parents back into the idea of doing some work, ready for when they and those who already claim Tax Credits, are moved onto Universal Credit, with it's fixed amounts to be earned each week..RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

Thank you, I will let her know. I thought it meant all benefits. Also, is it in all areas, or just a few?0

Is it this keyworkers job to dispense benefits advice?Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

No it is not. I am a worrier and she knows that I try to understand benefits a bit more. She had told other people she thought it was just housing benefit. I was not expecting her to know. They are as confused as anyone else. She is with CRI. I would never expect her to know about it. We talk about things and benefits.0
