MSE Helen, It might have been prudent to note that MSE understood that this was for private sellers and not businesses, I am sure some may pick you up on that.

With all those fees from using ebay and paypay and no support/guarantees for the sellers I don't know why would any private seller try to sell on ebay at all. Way too many scammers among buyers on ebay these days.

Surely better to try and get something for decent unwanted items than just throw them away or give them away?

As for scammers I really don't think there are any more than there used to be, the scams change but the good buyers still heavily outweigh the problem ones. However, I don't think eBay or distance selling is for everyone and many people should perhaps avoid doing so if it is outside their comfort zone.

Anyway, just bumping to remind people this is the last day of the 99p listings. My private account does now show the 100 free ending today, so list now if these 99p listings are useful to you.

No, wait until the new listing structure and then you can start your listing for more than 99p for free.

Whilst opinions on this change are mixed there are many people who are unhappy at the 20 item limit as they routinely list more than that each week, let alone month.

I am surprised though at how little chat there has been about this. The new seller defect rules have generated thousands of posts on here, eBay and other sites. This change away from 100 free 99p listings has not generated even 10% of that. Ether people don't care or are not aware of the change.

    Tomorrow might be interesting.

I suspect most private sellers don't use their 100 per month. Those who do must be either an unregistered business, having a one-off clear-out or don't sell very much, so relist every week!

I'm reasonably happy about the changes as it means I can start my private items at >99p, and hopefully it will cut down on the unregistered business activity.

I am also happy with the changes but opinions are divided and some buyers are very very unhappy.

    Why?

I can't see how a buyer knows or cares whether or not a seller is using free listings. I suppose it might reduce their chances of getting things for 99p...

Apologies, that should have read 'sellers', although surprisingly enough some buyers have posted on the eBay boards that they are unhappy with this. Mainly the buyers of small collectible items like stamps, cards etc where they fear sellers will now lump them in large lots to get rid of them, where they were previously quite happy to sell them at 99p and enable a buyer to complete a collection.

Looking forward to the BIN listing option. Tried it for the first time on the last free listing day and was surprised how stuff sold that I'd previously listed, relisted, etc etc and never sold. My question is does one BIN listing with 2 items on it count as one towards the 20 free listings or 2, thx.
