I think there maybe more to this.

However, in instances of fraud insurances companies wont refund the monies and expect you to charge back.
    Nice to save.

    thanks guys.

my wife has just said "if the car wasnt yours surely the previous owner woyld have insured it over the period incase it got nicked overnight" im sure thats a valid point as if he had any interest in it he would have had the beauty insured or sorn?

its a very harsh approach to a simple situation. jusy finalising a letter with a guide as above and hopefully it makes privilage the thiefing so and so's reconsider before the 56 days as my sons due to get married in 45 days and obviously we need the cash we are otherwise spending on new insurance !!

I'm not sure you have really taken on board how serious this is. With a cancellation for fraud on your record you will be lucky to get insurance anywhere. You can forget about it being anything like as 'cheap as the original £2000.

I wouldnt yet in case there is something that does exist that looks damning. Remember, we are only getting one side of the story here. It could be the right story. It could be a biased one-sided story.

Insurers do not tend to apply the fraud clause that allows them to keep the premium unless there is something that backs that up. Cancelling the policy and charging an admin/cancellation fee and a partial refund is the norm. So, before the media is involved, it would be a good idea to find out what it is that they think makes this intentional rather than inadvertent. As much as the media can help in cases of insurer stupidity, they also print examples of people trying it on and getting caught.

OP, you mentioned in another thread about an issue due to using your sons payment card. Is this connected to this thread?

According to the police themselves the V5 certificate is not enough to make you the keeper anyway:

the credit card issue they said was no problem as he was a named driver and payment type cn be from anyone willing to pay the cost on our behalf.

i do indeed have a reciept. i think i have more than a strong argument. the only points privelage made were " at the time we requested info from the dvla. u wer not the keeper." i said yes as the paperwork was clearly delayed. tey had nothing more to say except its final !!
