Look for product for control light on/off when away

Hi,

I am after a product which can switch on/off the light when I am not at home. (to pretend someone is there when on holiday)

I did a google search and found Siemens remote control kit
http://www.diy.com/nav/fix/electrical/lightwaverf-devices/sockets/Siemens-Remote-Control-Socket-Kit-3-Pack-White-11827538?icamp=recs

It seems I can control the light on/off with smart phone app?
Have anyone have these?
Can anyone tell me if I am looking at the right product?

You can get a plug-in timer for about a fiver. I even let mine run several lights when I'm at home, that way there's no difference whether I am at home or not.

Can you send me a link for build in timer your referring to?

I am not a DIY person, and try to avoid touching electrical if possible.

    Something like this: http://www.screwfix.com/p/plug-in-compact-timer/44241?kpid=44241&cm_mmc=Google-_-Product%20Listing%20Ads-_-Sales%20Tracking-_-sales%20tracking%20url&gclid=CI_rqIKIn74CFQblwgodMBwAGQ

We use these all the time, just plug a floor/table light into it, then plug it into the wall socket. Then push the little thingys to set the times you want it to go on/off. Boom, job done.

    Bit pricey.

A standard timer (~£3) and a table tamp will have the same effect.

Any shop such as Wilkinson's or a local hardware shop will sell plug in timers. Or you can buy from ebay. Just before Christmas Lidl had some at £2.50 each, which are programmable.

As I live in a ground floor flat I use a timer on a daily basis & can set it to come on & go off at different times over the different days of the week as I think it offers more security than having fixed on & off times every single day.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

I use a combination of plug-in timers and these, which replace light switches and operate three of my lights permanently:-
