online application refusal and timelines

hello all...

just a quick question.

I have had two ppi rejections where they have both stated that it was not applicable as I apparently filled in the application online.

The two questions I have are:

1- Will I be succesful in asking the FOB to look into the case.

2- secondly its been more than six months since that final letter from the institution. Can I still claim?

Regards,

Gary

1 - no idea. Online purchase is more difficult because no one advised you to buy it, but they may find you believed you were from the blurb surounding the application.
2 - Not unless there was a significant life event that prevented you from complaining further.

FOS (not FOB) only allow complaint referrals up to six months after the "full and final" letter from the financial institution being complained to. FOS will therefore reject any attempt by you to refer one or both of the complaints unless (for example) you've suffered the loss of a close family member or been majorly ill.

FOS are overrun with complaint referrals, it's the reason it takes 18 months.

Why not ring them and ask their permission first BEFORE you tie up a complaint handler needlessly?

They will never give you an answer on the phone. They will just advise the OP to send the complaint in. It is then up to the respondent if they wish to raise an objection to FOS considering it on jurisdictional grounds (I.e being out of time).

The rest of the above is accurate though. The OP would need a very good reason for non referral within the time limits. Plus online applications are very difficult to win for the reasons Taff spelt out.

Well, that just increases their workload still further. I know the FOS call centre is notorious for encouraging complaints regardless of the reason, but I thought someone past the six month deadline would be informed not to continue unless they had had a bereavement etc.
