sorry if this is in the wrong place but a little worried at the moment.
Can Anyone please let me know if they have ever heard of a "Floating blood vessel"
A relative of mine had a eye test 2 weeks ago as an emergency examination as she had a bit of a blur for a couple of minutes in her one eye.
Went back to doctors today who informed her of this "Floating blood vessel " ( it may be he said ) and has requested an appointment to the hospital. This will take about 4 weeks. She said she isn,t worried but I know her quite well and know she is worried. I am very worried too. The doctor ruled out a stroke or brain tumour. She is 66 years old. They first thought ( 99 % sure ) that is was a very bad migraine attack. Never had one before in her life.
I have googled it but it is throughing so much at me and getting confused.
I did mention about going private but she said she will wait. Personally it if was me I would want to know like now.
Any help would be great
Thanks

I'm sorry I can't help as I don't know anything about this personally.
People are possibly not replying as it is against this forums rules to give medical advice. There are other forums on the internet set up for this sort of thing.
But as you are obviously worried, if a friend had similar worries I'd suggest phoning her opticians to ask them to Explain Properly (or if that fails call an optometrist) as they specialise in eye disorders & should be able to advise. Please forgive the badly spelt alias... Hiya
Yeah thought that would be the case.
Spoke to her this morning and seems okay but like me have been reading too much on the internet over night.
Thanks for taking the time to reply, much appreciated:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0 -
Is this the same as a 'floater' in your eye?
I have had them in my right eye since 1967 when it suffered quite a severe trauma when I was nine.
Apart from occasionally wandering across my vision they don't cause me any difficulty and usually I don't even notice them.0 -
I agree, sounds like a floater to me. As I understand it they are caused by tiny leaks from blood vessels into the eye fluid. I've had them all my life (well, since my teen) and they float in and out of my vision. They haven't changed since they first appeared, so I must have had some kind of knock or something to have caused it initially.
Lots of people have them and they cause no problems (although could be a symptom of something else I guess). I was told there is not way to fix them, as the risks are far too great for what is really just a minor inconvenience.0
