Mortgage company took two payments by mistake

Options
NRAM took 2 mortgage payments by mistake and have left me with 46p. I had to wait till i got home at 6.30pm after work to find out why i couldnt get money out today thinking i had plenty in bank. On phoning my bank it seems nram have taken two payments of my mortgage by mistake. They are now shut and i cant contact them until 2m leaving me and my family without any money. I also have missed my neices confirmation tonight trying to phone my bank and Nram. The bank say its not their fault and i have to phone nram 2m and get them to fax the bank saying they shouldnt have taken the money.I have been very stressed with this and angry. Should I go to ombudsman? about their mistake.

I presume they took the money by Direct Debit? In which case you should be able to use the direct debit guarantee to get your money back. The bank need to sort it out and reverse on of the direct debits.
You will of course get things sorted and hopefully an apology from NRAM but this of course doesn't help right now.
Get back on to your bank tomorrow and tell them you need it sorting.
