buyer has a problem with me making a profit.

Ok so "potential buyer", I blocked her.

She initially asked for a BIN price for a book. I gave her the lowest price I could see them selling for on ebay.

She came back and said "but the rrp is £4.95". Which is true. So I emailed back and said I was after the market price for it, at my price makes me £4.19 profit. Now I started the auction at 99p because I don't read this book, I don't need it, I just want the space. The fact that it isn't available to Joe blogs is merely a plus to its value.

She has since been messaging me saying I should be disgusted with myself and ashamed I tried to make a profit out of her.

I've been really polite but these are getting to me now - I wouldn't email a buyer and have a go for winning a book at below the rrp, I'd just accept it's an auction and be done with it.

Ebay didn't seem bothered - they say she isn't harassing me and blocking her is all I can do.

I guess I'm not after any advice, just a rant about how someone can be so daft as to not understand how eBay works. Some people make as to profit - plenty make a loss.

Tell her not to buy it if it bothers her that much. If there's no profit what's the point.

Don't feel bad for making some profit - if it is not available readily, you will find a buyer who will pay what you want - I mean because I have books from the 70s,80s etc where the the RRP on the back is £1.99 but I still paid say £2.75 for it - RRP is recommended retail price - not required. She needs to learn that life is not like that

eBay is about profit - that's the point of selling!! Tell her to go to a charity shop!

I had that more than once on amazon, along the lines of 'amazon show the price of this as being £6.99 yet you want £15.99, please reduce your price to the correct one showing by amazon'.

I respond that I am happy for them to buy from amazon to which the usual response is 'but they never have any available as book is out of print'

Problem is you can't even block them on amazon

Its only worth what someone is willing to pay. Watch the £ shop stuff sell for £3 with postage.

Bought a watch recently. £10.50 from UK sellers but only £3 from China. OK it took 3 weeks. But if i wanted it now i would have paid the £10..

Do not feel bad for making a profit from your item. If your buyer wants it, they will pay for it - end of. There are many people who make a profit from excessive postage on Ebay - that is a fact.

Simply block the buyer, if they are annoying you. Plus send them a polite message, along the lines of - This is the price, if it is too rich for your blood, then shop elsewhere.

Hope you sell your item successfully.

Really annoys me when you get people like this on eBay (both as a buyer and seller).

Ignore her and put her on your blocked buyer list. Some people think that the world owes them and they should get things for free.

Had a rant from someone who thought that I was a disgrace for daring to sell something that had been given to me (from a rep) - how dare I! I responded that it was my item, it had been given to me and if I wanted to sell it, then I could set the price - she was not under any obligation to buy after all.

Her reply was another disgusted rant ending in a threat of reporting me to Ebay (I have no idea why or how she was going to report me, I was only selling something after all). I responded that her problem was that I had the item, she didn't and she wasn't going to get it for any price as she was on my BBL as of that moment (childish of me perhaps but satisfying).
