Does BR affect others in the house ?

Hiya

Just thought I'd ask if anyone knew this cos my other half is constantly being turned down for credit. It started happening when I had defaulted for several months before my BR, his existing card suppliers were reducing the amount of his credit limit. He has since applied to other lenders for cheaper deals but gets a NO each time - even from the higher rate cards which he tried to see if he would be accepted just for clarification. We have checked his credit file and all seems ok, his score is into the 800s.

We have a joint mortgage. Could this be the rogue "link" to me ?

Cheers

Broken hearted-why do you post rubbish???!!! The only way it will 'link' is if it is a JOINT credit card/loan &/or if any credit agreements are/have been joint.

A credit search is done on NAME only.

You have not answered my question in the other thread....what have you got against BR (after all you said you'd been strongly advised to go BR)....why have you not gone BR?

I fail to see why someone who has no intention of going BR posts at all on a 'BR & living with it' board.I don't know weather its because you percieve it as 'easy' when you are scrimping/saving/watching every penny/fighting off creditors? Well....apart from the 2 month 'soul-searching' & making the decision to do it let me tell you it WAS easy! 3 3/4 hours of my life (OR meeting face to face & 45 mins in court) & over 95K gone-no more hassle/worry-a fresh start.

They have joint debt on the mortgage which links them. If they didn't then no it wouldn't effect the partners credit. Debtmonkey you are the one giving bad advice here please go check your facts on this on not just jumping on someone because you don't like them.

This is absolutely correct - after all a mortgage is only another name for a secured loan.

Very clever. And one of the things on the search is any financial links with anyone esle. And guess what a joint mortgage is?
