There's a 2 in 7 chance it'll fall on a weekend (and therefore a 5 in 7 chance it won't), unless you're seriously suggesting MBNA et al do it deliberately?...in which case I refer you to my first statement above!
Perfectly true, although standing back a bit it does seem strange that a payment due date is allocated which cannot actually be complied with due to payments not being accepted on a non banking day.
Effectively the payment day could be anything up to four days before what it says it is (at Christmas this year, for example, a payment due on 28th would actually have to be made on 24th).
This doesn't apply to direct debits of course, because in that case they're perfectly happy to receive the payment 'out of time' because it's them initiating it. In the Christmas example above the DD would come out on 29th despite being due on 28th.0 -
It's not a "payment due date", if you read your statement you'll see it's a "payment due by date"...a small, but very important difference.Perfectly true, although standing back a bit it does seem strange that a payment due date is allocated which cannot actually be complied with due to payments not being accepted on a non banking day.
