Bespoke doors/joinery

I've had a quote for some joinery, including making, painting and hanging bespoke doors, which I expect from how they've been described to be pretty sturdy. I can mentally deduct the cost of the door furniture and of a couple of other bits of work, but I have no idea how long it takes to make a well-constructed made-to-measure exterior door or of how much the timber would cost.
I've rummaged around online and found a few sites that give an idea of what things cost, but the range of prices has left my head spinning.
I could, of course, get a second quote, but leaving that on one side, which sites do people here think are best for giving a good idea of what various bits of joinery etc. should cost?

You can only compare prices/quotes if there is a specification to work from otherwise everyone will be quoting for slightly different things. The main things that can affect prices are materials (Hardwood if so which species or softwood), style of door, finish, ironmongery prices can differ so a BS3621 5 lever lock can cost £17-00 or £70-00 and the same can go for a pair of handles or hinges. I've recently used hinges that cost over £100 per pair and you need at least 1.5 pairs on a door. I would just mention you only get what you pay.
I don't tout for work on here but if you want to let me know the spec I can give you an idea of prices down here. I have made Oak external door and frame recently costing over £2k but you can buy a cheap standard door and frame for £100-00. I always recomment getting 3 quotes and go with the Joinery/Joiner you feel most comfortable with.0 -
I've just had 2 custom made hardwood vertical sliding sash windows, double glazed and sprayed just short of £1000 each. Another company were £1800 each. You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0

Thats a very, very, very cheap price. Were they sash corded and lead weights or spiral balances?.
I would charge about £2000+vat (supply and fitted) for one about 1700mm x 1400 mm wide......
I'm not short of work either.;)0
