Barclay's withdrawn all my money and left me £3,500,000 in debit

So they've removed 3.5 million in total from all your accounts. Sounds as though they don't like the recent 50k and other transactions and are doing AML checks.0

Evening Guys
All the information seems to stack up as AML checks, I have since discovered that the Coventry branch where money was transferred to on the 6th of May is actually Barclays financial crime operations. The NCA have 7 working days to investigate before coming to a conclusion.
This would make sence as the assigned Barclays rep said she will be able to give me a update on the 'technical issue' on Wednesday, 7 working days after the funds were transfered.
I will update the status on Wednesday, hopefully with some good news.0 -

Now I know more, this seems a plausible situation.
Sorry for my last post on this thread, however now having more details, I don't feel same way.
It will get itself sorted out, however you can probably understand why they're looking into this seriously, for your protection as well as theirs.
God luck with sorting it out.

Hi Guy's
I am also on of those unlucky people whom is currently going through this phase with barclay's. Basically my business account received a transfer of £135,360 from my customer.
I was to use the money to pay my supplier for goods that we're are purchasing. They day i initiate a CHAP to my supplier, it does not go through, they tell me to wait until the next morning (5th December 2014).
The next morning i wake up to find £134,279 has gone "to reconcile" coventry. I contact barclay's they do not know what exactly is being done with the money, all they do is file a complaint. It's now the 9th December, Still no news of where the funds are and my customer is getting extremely worried and is threatening to file a lawsuit.
I am extremely worried if i will get the funds back as this amount belongs to my customer and i am extremely scared i will become liable. This whole situation has put a halt on my business and cost me a loss of £1500.
Has anyone got any result on when they get their funds back, this has become an enormous problem for me.0 -
Hi Mmeha22 and Callumhburgess
I know this is an old thread, but can you tell me what the outcome was? 10 days ago, due to a "technical glitch" Barclays withdrew everything out of my business and reserve accounts and my business is now in an extremely dire position. My experience with Barclays has been exactly the same as yours and I am now very worried as my business has effectively ground to a halt and I owe people money. I have asked my MP to help and have filed an emergency complaint with the ombudsman. Storming into a large London branch and demanding to see the Manager resulted in him telling me that his hands were tied. I even managed to speak to the office of the CEO of retail and business banking but they just don't want to know. Can you tell me how long it took to get the funds back into your accounts and did you get reasonable compensation?0 -
Im sure if you have this much money (without soudning rude) you can find a better bank that would be happy to take it and provide you services.
Edit: I hope you moved bank.0 -

Yes, who are you replying to? Is it me? I was looking for a reply from the two people who had the same problem I am having now with Barclays. I don't have much money! After the financial crash it has taken a long time to get this business going and it is very fragile indeed. However, it has recently taken off but we still receive quite sporadic payments. The money in the account should have lasted for the rest of this summer into the Autumn. If you are not in business it is hard to understand how cash flow works, but be assured, 10 days with your account frozen and no other monies coming in for a little while can ruin a business very quickly!0
