Healthcare Cash Plan

Hello everybody,

With my company (soon ex-company) I have a 'simplyhealth' cash plan as part of the benefits of my contract.

I am leaving the company on the 16th of May and obviously my benefits will stop on this day too.

I am really fond of the idea of a healthcare cash plan but I am not sure simplyhealth is the best I can get.

Do you guys have some advice on this for me please?

Thank you,

Simone

    Hi Simone

Do you suffer from any pre existing medical conditions? If you do it may be better to stay with Simplyhealth, when you leave a corporate plan and move to an individual scheme the healthcare provider will normal move you across with no exclusions.

If you don't it may be better to shop around and decide whether you want to go for a cheaper price (if you just want your day to day stuff covered like optical and dental) or whether you want a wider range of benefits and plenty of piece of mind or just incase features (money back for hospital stays)

Check the joining terms, some companies have waiting periods before you can claim and exclude pre existing medical conditions.

Personally I use Westfield Health (been from sheffield I was told to join when I hit 18 by my Dad) however I've never being disappointed, good range of benefits and includes things such as maternity, hospital stays, therapies so I've got plenty out of it over the years. They also include a service called Best Doctors which is an amazing addition and I don't think any other Healthcash plan providers have this (although my life insurance also has it!). I recently used the service for my son who has suffered with knee pain for a while (nothing serious just a football injury that wasn't healing) got a world leading specialist to view his case notes from the consultant, he recommended keyhole surgery (his own NHS consultant was just saying it would heal with rest due to him only being young) has just started back training and seems to have done the job, he'd spent a year in pain, yet he's totally fine now, aches a little, but not needing ice packs etc and in agony - a 17 year old on a sports course who plays football too twice a week didnt like to hear advice from mum and GP!

Cannot fault the service at all.
