Usually its April any changes in benefit amounts or allowances £102 is the figure for current year 2014/15 so it wont change until next year and will only be a very small amount..
However, the £102 is a net figure after deductions tax (if applicable) NI and you can offset pension contributions by 50% so if you paid £20 a week into a pension then £10 could be offset against income to bring the amount down to £102. Also care costs for the person being cared for if you had to pay whilst you were at work and childcare costs can be taken into account. They will want proof of any of the above.Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy - Anne Frank :A0 -

Carers' earnings limits (after NI, tax and other deductions - google for more information) will go up to £102 per week from the 20 May 2014.

Unfortunately for carers the NMW is set to rise in October 2014 which causes problems for carers working 16 hours. Personally I think its a disgrace that this keeps happening. Why the CA earnings limit cant be synchronised to increase with the NMW is beyond me.

However, a carer could take out a private pension of £5 a week enabling them to keep the CA of £61.35.The most potent weapon of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. Steve Biko0 -
I agree I also think it's outrageous that the only benefit that expects you to work 35 hours a week, doesn't pay the NMW in the first place!

I agree with you Catty, £61.35 is an insult, it works out at a tad over £1.75 an hour. Pathetic.Spelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...

Indeed.
I've often thought it could be legally challenged, I don't think it ever has been.Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy - Anne Frank :A0
