if its just the post that is rotten and the rest of the fence is ok, ie the panels and cross member, then get a builder to sink a new concrete post next to it and bolt the cross members to it.

concrete post and bolts will be about £20 and prob half a day labour, so should be under a ton all in
I would suggest a small local gardening and fencing company rather than builder.

We had a lot of storm damage to our fences recently and used a recommended gardening company who regularly installed and repaired fences as well as other gardening stuff.

We were very happy with both the prices and the standard of work.

I can pass on their details to anyone in the Chichester/Bognor/Arundel areas of West Sussex.

I have no connection with them other than as a satisfied customer.

One of my fence posts broke at ground level due to the recent high winds. I took a chance on ordering this fence buddy repair kit. Perfect job.

I cant see why people get so upset and irate over things like this. If the post is not annoying the neighbours only you, then why start asking for 1/2 the money? Just get it fixed and pay for it yourself.

My next door neighbour has had block paving done in the front. There was no permanent fence between our gardens. They have built a brick wall between and fitted wrought iron fencing above it. It looks lovely, but they didn't ask for any money off me and I didn't offer any back. Why should I , it wasn't effecting me.

Just get someone in to fix it, pay them the £20 or so it will cost and stop worrying and fretting whether the neighbours will pay 1/2.

    Life is too short.
