Tax rebate shown on bank statement from P85

Hi there.
I just checked my bank account and I am due an unexpected payment. I sent off my P85 6 weeks ago and as I do not have any financial ties left to UK I didn't expect it it take too long. my bank statement now shows a payment incoming and is named on the statement as 'via post'. I have not had any correspondence from HMRC so I am wondering if anyone knows if it is a tax debate when it says 'via post' on bank statement. This should be a tax rebate through a P85-if that matters.

I could be wrong but I think that the word 'post' refers to the posting of an incoming payment as opposed to mail.
An odd entry though! There are 10 types of people in the world - those who understand binary and those who do not. :doh:0 -

Well, yes but what does the "by way of" refer to. Do the banks actually use the postal services any more.
Best advice is to wait and see what appears. The only thing that is constant is change.0 -
Thank you both very much. Yes I will wait and se and also not spend it anytime soon. I filled in on the P85 that I wanted any payment paid into my bank account directly as I have left the country and wouldn't be able to deposit a check. I am not home at the moment and will check online banking. On the fast app through my bank it just says 'by postal'.
I just thought if someone had come across this before..0 -
The letter detailing the payment may well arrive after the payment has gone in the bank - maybe that's what's happened?0

That may very well be what has happened. I am abroad and I know that post will take a bit longer to reach here.0

It's pretty normal for a tax rebate to be paid into the bank account several days before a statement of account arrives in the post, and obviously that'll take even longer given your location now. But it probably makes sense to wait for confirmation if the amount isn't what you were expecting.0

Thank you all for your guidance. I think it is the tax rebate, the amount is reasonable enough... The amount is still on hold with my bank account, it went in yesterday but only shows in the balance section, not in available balance. It says credit and in the description part it says: Per Post. I just thought it might actually say something about tax.0
