Pre-paid credit cards any info?

I have had a look but cant find anything on this.
In preperation of swapping from the abbey I have opened a basic bank account. However with my rating falling through the floor cant get a debit card and electron/solo are still not 100% accepted especially abroad.

So I was thinking what about shifting all cash after bills accounted for to one of those, well maybe not all as possible charges to get money from hole in wall.

Have others used them and what do you think. Or has Martin already looked into them?

Thanks in advance

Michelle :)

Hi Michelle,I have one from '360money'simple to use just top up at any shop displaying the paypoint signs.

There are two or three types and styles and the one I got was in conjunction with the 'Daily Mirror' coz it gave a few extra benefits

    here is the link

    http://www.360money.com/about360money.html

also if you 'google search' 'prepaid credit cards' you will find more info there(I think 'Which' is one of the sites)

the beauty is that because it is prepaid I use in for internet shopping nad only put just above the ammount that I want to spend so cant be scammed for large ammounts of money,
    Craig

perhaps readers of the Mirror that are on this site would post the day/page if they see the ad

You could look at Talksport card with no transaction fees in UK you pay the fees when you top up.

Cashplus is not expensive to run.

    Top-ups are free of charge.

I pay one monthly fee of £4.95 flat rate.

    How is that expensive?

The website mentions everything except how much they charge.
This type of card is obviously needed for those with difficulty getting credit and are unable to have the benefits of a regular card ,therefore it suits some ,but some-one tell me the charges.

Sorry just spotted the rates, that does not seem to bad, there must be a catch. They pay you no money for your money being in the account and you pay them for the privilege.

Virgin Money have just launched one too, it is a full Mastercard, rather than a Maestro, run through 360 Money. From what I can see if look the same as their credit card. James
