Could someone advice me of the few things about PPCs?
1. Can I buy it for my wife in her name for her to use or does it needs to be herself phisically buying it?
2. If I take the PPC to the chemists can I buy medicines in for her if the PPC is in her name, or does she needs to go and buy it herself?
3. Same about normal prescriptions. Can I buy the medicines for my wife in her name in the chemists?
4. If I/She go to the chemists authorised to sell those ceritificates, would I get it straight away or would they thell me to comeback tomorrow, in a weeks time etc for it to be ready?
5. Would I have to set up a direct debit or can I just make a one time off wit hthe credit card?

I have a PPC. I bought mine over the internet and pay by direct debit-you can pay one payments.
Other people have collected my prescriptions using it for me. Our chemist knows me so they happily accepted my confirmation email as proof- the nhs check up anyway.0 -

Did you have to wait for it to come through the post?0 -
I have a PCC I order it by phone. It normally takes 4 days to arrive by post.0

1. Yes
Pre-payment prescription is exactly that so your wife would get a prescription, and you (or her) would present the PPC and receive the medication, no further payment required(for the validity of the PPC) once you have the card. So prescribed medicines would not need to be further 'bought' You can collect the medicines.
You can pay upfront although I go with the DD and they warn you when it is up for renewal and say no further action required unless you wish to cancel.
No experience of purchasing through a chemists.0 -
I think the chemist can give you a form to claim a refund, if you need a prescription and have applied for the card, but are waiting for it to arrive. From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!0

You can buy online so can buy it for the wife.

No it is only for medicines listed on a prescription and not for buying other medicines over the counter

See above

Chemists do not sell prepay certificates. If you do not have it and have to pay for a prescription then the chemist can give you a form to reclaim the cost once you have the certificate
5. Would I have to set up a direct debit or can I just make a one time off wit hthe credit card?
Your choice. You can either pay a one off or (as I do) set up a DD and then it will automatically be renewed on expiry

Ppc cards can be bought in the chemist. They will fill in the form take payment and you will receive your card in about a week. As soon as you have paid you can tick the pre-order box on a prescription as you fill in a start date on the form. We sell at least twenty a week it is a basic service of a chemist to do this.
Your wife will then be able to receive items on minor ailments scheme but must be present as this is a condition of the scheme.0 -

PPCs can only be bought over the counter in some areas. Even within those areas I believe that not all chemists sell/issue the PPC.0

Buying online = waiting for it to come through the post. Buying it in the chemists means getting it straight away? and therefore collecting the medicines on the same visit.

Why do you assume that the medicines I mean are not prescribed?

There are certain chemists that do so the question was addressed to the people who have an experience of buying those in the past before
